Blue Mountain State makes us want Oreos

Ok boys…we’re a bit late on this one but it’s been a hectic early Jan getting things in order for Brazil. Anyway - have you guys checked out the Blue Mountain State on Spike TV? If not, we highly suggest you do. Why? In a nutshell, because it’s a show presumably for straight guys that manages to have more gay appeal than RuPaul’s Drag Race. But don’t just let us tell you about it - the first 4 seconds of the below clip (which must be watched to the end) will bare (no pun) all.

Kayaking, Hiking, Viewing Beauty in Paraty, Brazil

It won’t be too long before we take off on our Brazilian Adventure this April. For guys like us who love both nature’s beauty, cultural history and working up a sweat outdoors with a bunch of guys, Paraty is a gem. The ocean waters are calm and breezy and the view of the old colonial town is magnificent, not to mention the vistas of tiny islands that we’ll sweep past. Check out our itinerary for this area.

Day 5 Paraty
This morning you will be taking a private transfer to the charming colonial town of Paraty. Our journey goes along the Costa Verde or “Green Coast” where and the views of the lush tropical mountains are breathtaking. We will then arrive in the coastal town of Paraty, a charming colonial gem with cobblestone streets full of art galleries and cafes. Spend your evening strolling the pedestrian only streets and sample some of the best local cuisine at a favorite restaurant.

Day 6 Paraty

This morning we embark on a sea kayaking adventure through the emerald waters of the Bay of Paraty. We cruises past some of the 200 islands with waters teeming with fish. Take some time to go snorkeling or enjoy a long walk on a deserted beach. In the afternoon, we will take a short scenic drive to the river head and our expert guides lead our group on a rafting excursion down the rapids.

Dinner on you own.

Day 7 Paraty
This morning we venture into the Mata Atlantica, one of Brazil’s oldest rain forests for a stunning hike to view nature, wildlife and discover secluded beaches. Spend you final evening in Brazil with a group dinner at one of Paraty’s top restaurants and enjoy live Brazilian music.

Ipanema Beach

Ipanema beach is right in the middle of the action - there’s a particular stretch which is to be found at the end of Rua Farme de Amoedo - the place to be at, if you wish to be seen and cruised! Like a dream sequence, it Ipanema Beach near Rio de Janeiro, where we’ll be visiting in April, has flirtatious men in speedos, fine khaki sand, emerald water, and an abundance of cheap beer.

It is a catwalk for countless twentysomething green-eyed, dark-skinnedmen in bikinis. It’s a flaunt-it, all-night party zone with bronzed men playing futvolei (a popular sport much like volleyball but without hands) in the sand or on shorboards in the offshore break.

Still, the main sport is definitely paquera—flirting, a fine art on a beach where gorgeous men are everywhere. Subtlety won’t get you far in the land of outrageous one-liners and full-bore ogling. As the sun falls, this on-the-make crowd migrates to open-air bars.

Ipanema does not have big gay dance clubs, but the lounges and venues on Rua Teixeira de Melo have live DJ’s, and special dance parties. It’s great for weeknights, to warm up before you go clubbing, to run into that cute guy you met earlier at the gay beach.

A combination of professionals, intellectuals, actors, fashion victims, gym bunnies, artists, models, fag hags, lesbians, and others keep things eclectic and fun. Circulate between Le Boy Club and The Copa. DLR/Pleasure/Bedroom, on Estrada do Joa, caters to the same crowd. These clubs with have theme parties with live DJ’s.

Absolut Hunk/Sex and the City Jason Lewis Flexes/Shoots Show on Brazilian Beach

There are plenty of beautiful things to look at along the beaches of Rio, but we admit, watching Samantha’s old flame, Jason Lewis shooting a pilot for a new TV show called Rio! along their beaches is quite titillating. Jason, you can flex like this all day long as far as we’re concerned. And we might even check out the TV show if it finds an outlet. Don’t forget to check out our trip to Brazil in April!

Delicious Brazilian Capoeiran Dancers

Capoeira is a Brazilian art form which combines fight, dance, rhythm and movement. Capoeira is a dialog between players - a conversation through movement which can take on many shades of meaning. The details of capoeira’s origins and early history are still a matter of debate among historians, but it is clear that african slaves played a crucial role in the development of the artform. Some historians claim that slaves used capoeira’s dance-like appearance as a way to hide their training of combat and self defense. Capoeira’s many styles come out of the context of two principle branches that were formalized in the first half of the twentieth century following capoeira’s legalization. But to really understand capoeira, you need to see it for yourself. And just as luck would have it we’re heading to Brazil in April! In the meantime, enjoy these delicious pictures.
